喜欢和人打交道、愿意帮助社区,可以从社区服务开始;

喜欢阅读、写作、电影、出版和传媒,可以重点关注写作文化类项目;

Community Service

Writing, Media & Culture

科研STEM Science, STEM & Environment

Community Service

01|Hillcrest Community Centre Youth Volunteer

Hillcrest Community Centre offers a Youth Volunteer Program for students ages 14–18.

Youth volunteers may assist with children's day camps, sports programs, skating lessons, special events, birthday parties, and other community activities.

This is a strong starting point for students who want to develop communication, teamwork, responsibility, and leadership skills through direct community involvement.

02|Greater Vancouver Food Bank

Greater Vancouver Food Bank

The Greater Vancouver Food Bank offers volunteer opportunities for students ages 15 and older.

Depending on the role, volunteers may sort donations, inspect food, prepare food packages, or support food distribution.

These positions provide practical experience in teamwork, organization, responsibility, and community service.

03|Big Brothers Teen Mentoring Program

The Teen Mentoring Program pairs students in Grades 9–12 with younger students in Grades 1–7 for one-on-one mentorship.

Teen Mentors usually meet with their mentees for approximately one hour each week throughout the school year.

Students develop skills in communication, activity planning, leadership, conflict resolution, and mentoring while building a meaningful long-term relationship with a younger student.

04|BC Children’s Hospital Auxiliary

BC Children’s Hospital Auxiliary offers volunteer opportunities for students ages 16 and older.

Applicants may be required to complete references, orientation, privacy training, a criminal record check, and other health-related requirements.

Because the screening process can be extensive and volunteers are generally expected to make a long-term commitment, this opportunity is best suited to students with a genuine interest in healthcare, medicine, child development, or community care.

Writing, Media & Culture

喜欢写作的学生,可以接触Editing和Publishing;

喜欢电影的学生,可以进入Film Festival;

05|Vancouver Public Library Teen Advisory Group

Vancouver Public Library's Teen Advisory Group is open to teens ages 13–18.

Members help shape teen programming at the library, contribute ideas, participate in activities, and support initiatives designed for young people.

TAG is especially suitable for students interested in reading, communication, event planning, youth leadership, and community engagement.

06|VPL ink Teen Advisory Group

VPL's ink Teen Advisory Group is designed for teens interested in writing, visual art, editing, and publishing.

Members may participate in different stages of producing the annual ink teen journal, including reviewing submissions, magazine design and layout, and planning the launch event.

This is particularly suitable for students interested in creative writing, journalism, publishing, visual communication, and editorial work.

07|Vancouver Writers Fest

学生可能参与Front of House、Festival Ambassador、Book Sales、Box Office、Event Support等不同岗位。

The Vancouver Writers Fest offers volunteer opportunities during its annual fall festival.

Volunteers may support front-of-house operations, guest services, book sales, ticketing, event assistance, and other festival activities.

This opportunity is especially relevant for students interested in literature, publishing, English, humanities, communications, and event management.

08|Vancouver International Film Festival — VIFF

The Vancouver International Film Festival offers volunteer opportunities for students ages 16 and older, although some positions may require volunteers to be 19+.

Festival volunteers may support guest experience, venue operations, administration, partnerships, and other areas of festival operations.

This is a strong opportunity for students interested in film, media, communications, marketing, business, and event management.

STEM Science, STEM & Environment

喜欢Biology,可以关注Biodiversity和Ecology;

喜欢Engineering和Computer Science,可以关注STEM Outreach;

喜欢Physics和Astronomy,可以关注Space Centre;

09|UBC Beaty Biodiversity Museum

一方面是Science Knowledge;

The UBC Beaty Biodiversity Museum offers volunteer opportunities for students ages 16 and older who are interested in biology, biodiversity, ecology, and science communication.

Volunteers may engage with museum visitors, support educational activities, and help communicate scientific ideas to the public.

This opportunity is especially relevant for students interested in biology, life sciences, environmental science, museum education, and science communication.

10|UBC Geering Up Junior Instructor Program

UBC Geering Up是UBC Faculty of Applied Science旗下非常成熟的STEM Outreach项目。

UBC Geering Up's Junior Instructor Program is open to students in Grade 10 and above.

Junior Instructors work with UBC instructor teams to support STEM camps, clubs, workshops, and outreach events.

Responsibilities may include lesson preparation, assisting with instruction, supporting hands-on activities, and occasionally leading STEM lessons.

This is especially valuable for students interested in engineering, computer science, technology, teaching, and STEM leadership.

11|H.R. MacMillan Space Centre

MacMillan Space Centre。

The H.R. MacMillan Space Centre offers volunteer opportunities for teens ages 16 and older.

Students interested in astronomy, physics, space exploration, and STEAM communication may support visitors, family activities, public events, and educational programming.

This can be a valuable experience for students interested in physics, engineering, astronomy, and science education.

12|Stanley Park Ecology

Stanley Park Ecology offers volunteer opportunities in environmental education, conservation, wildlife monitoring, and ecological stewardship.

Programs may include Nature House activities, habitat and wildlife monitoring, bird counts, EcoStewards, and other seasonal environmental initiatives.

This is particularly suitable for students interested in environmental science, biology, ecology, wildlife conservation, and sustainability.

Science World Future Science Leaders:

Science World Future Science Leaders,简称FSL。

Volunteer / Community Engagement

例如:

UBC Beaty Biodiversity Museum
Stanley Park Ecology
UBC Geering Up
H.R. MacMillan Space Centre

以及:

Academic Enrichment

例如:

Science World Future Science Leaders

到了Grade 10,再逐渐找到自己的方向;
