1. Introduction to Teacher Peter

Rigorous, down-to-earth, and caring towards students, Peter provides in-depth yet easy-to-understand explanations, guiding students to think and summarize. Having previously served as a finance manager, data analyst, and CPA at a US-listed company in Canada, Peter is fully involved in teaching and management at Hillhouse and has developed his own series of textbooks for beginner, intermediate, and advanced math competitions. Based on over 20 years of teaching experience in Vancouver, Peter provides personalized plans for students to strengthen their foundation in mathematics and skip levels.

Peter graduated from Nanjing University with a bachelor's degree in computational mathematics and an MBA. After graduation, he entered the Chinese Academy of Sciences with excellent grades. After graduating from the University of Cologne in Germany with a major in technology management, he joined CIMC Group. During his student years, his math and physics scores in the college entrance examination and competitions ranked among the top three in Jiangsu Province.

Mathematics and writing are key areas of focus in Hillhouse Consulting's student development program. Over the past two decades, the rapid improvement in the "mathematical skills" of all our students has been inseparable from the excellent team led by Peter. Many students have gone on to work in mathematics-related fields, and some students with a humanities background have gone on to switch to or pursue business, data analysis, or finance majors in college.

2. Course content tutored by Peter's team

Peter, along with the outstanding math and science team at Hillhouse, offers the following courses:

Various on-campus courses

They are familiar with K-12 math, AP Calculus AB & BC, AP Statistics, 11-12 physics and AP Physics 1, 2 and C, AP Economics, and other in-school, online, and summer courses across the Greater Vancouver area. Their students consistently achieve excellent academic results and show significant improvement. They have guided students to achieve average scores above 95% across all subjects.

Standardized Tests

Our team provides tutoring for standardized tests such as AP/IB/SAT/ACT, UK university entrance exams, and various university courses, resulting in excellent student achievements.

Various competitions

Our team has achieved outstanding results in math competitions in the US and Canada, including AMC 12, AIME, COMC, Euclid, modeling, and economics competitions. All of our students have been admitted to top universities in the US and Canada, including Ivy League schools.

5. Showcase of some of Peter's work

Competition Results

Peter has been tutoring students in Vancouver since around 2003. More than a decade ago, some of his students qualified for the USAMO and CMO Mathematical Olympiads , as well as the Canadian team for the International Physics Olympiad. All of these students eventually went on to attend Ivy League universities. Peter has his own series of beginner, intermediate, and advanced competition tutorials.

Each year, anywhere from a few to more than ten students from Hillhouse are recognized for their achievements in various competitions in the United States and Canada.

Both groups of students had previously achieved top 10% team and individual rankings in the Stanford Mathematics Competition.

The student's competition results rank among the top three in his/her school.

School academic performance (including AP and IB)

Many students from schools such as St. Geoge's, Crofton, Lordbyng, PW, PG, Magee, and Uhill, including Andover High School (ranked #1 in the US) , rank in the top 3 in AP Calculus, 11th and 12th grade Physics, AP Physics 1, 2 and C, and Statistics. Most of these students also have top-ranking GPAs, laying a solid foundation for admission to prestigious universities.

Among students receiving comprehensive planning or all-subject tutoring at Hillhouse, Peter's team is familiar with the teaching system and the students, deeply understanding their potential. 100% of their students skip grades in math, and over 95% skip grades in science. Personalized skipping courses and intensive plans are developed for students in different situations, including public schools, private schools, regular classes, and competition classes. Students who skip grades maintain top scores in their classes .

We tutor students in AP/IB courses for public and private high schools in the US and Canada, including calculus, mathematics, physics, statistics, and economics. All students have made significant progress, with some achieving perfect scores .

University course grades

Peter's team has also provided comprehensive and systematic tutoring for over thirty university courses related to mathematics, physics, and finance, including those from Yale, Harvard, Columbia, Berkeley, UCSD, UPenn, NYU, the University of Toronto, and UBC's business, science, and engineering schools. Many Ivy League liberal arts students , leveraging their solid high school foundation, achieved grades of over 95% in elective courses such as Calculus 3, Linear Algebra, Statistics, Economics, and University Physics, laying a strong foundation for transitioning to finance or data science.
