加盟Hillhouse十多年的资深老师Kevin介绍

Kevin is an outstanding graduate of the Odyssey Mini School / AP Program at David Thompson Secondary, where he excelled in AP Calculus BC, AP Physics, AP Chemistry, AP Biology, AP Economics, and AP English. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of British Columbia (UBC), majoring in Pre-Medicine and Life Sciences, maintaining a consistent GPA in the A to A+ range over four years. He graduated with distinction and was named to the Dean’s Honour List in recognition of his academic excellence.

Kevin possesses strong research capabilities. He worked under Dr. Johné Liu, a leading authority in the field of cell division and aging at The Ottawa Hospital, conducting research on spindle function and calcium signaling. He was the first author of a related academic paper published in Molecular Biology of the Cell (MBoC), a respected U.S. journal. In addition, under the supervision of Professor Dave Oliver at UBC, Kevin conducted in-depth research on the main periplasmic domain of the bacterial membrane protein YidC, with findings published in the Journal of Experimental Microbiology and Immunology at UBC. Kevin is also an active organizer and participant in a variety of UBC clubs and student organizations.

Over a Decade of Full-Time Teaching Experience at Hillhouse with Outstanding Instructional Achievements

Motivated by his deep passion for education, Kevin made the decisive choice to leave a medical research project he had been leading for a year at The Ottawa Hospital and dedicated himself fully to Hillhouse Education. For over a decade, he has upheld a philosophy of professionalism, rigor, and personalized instruction, tutoring students from numerous public and private schools across the Greater Vancouver area in AP and IB courses. His subjects span Biology, Chemistry, Calculus, Statistics, Physics, and Economics, consistently helping students achieve significant academic breakthroughs. Many of his students have earned perfect or near-perfect scores, with outstanding results from schools such as St. George’s, Crofton House, Lord Byng, Prince of Wales, Magee, Point Grey, and University Hill.

Kevin’s tutoring emphasizes a solid grasp of foundational knowledge, systematic training in test-taking strategies, and the development of experimental design skills and scientific thinking. His comprehensive approach equips students to excel in the demanding and competitive environments of advanced coursework and academic competitions.

Dual-Focused Instruction Combining Research Excellence and Competitive Training

In the combined fields of research and competition, Kevin has also achieved remarkable results. His students have excelled not only in academic competitions but also in research-based contests. In Science Fair competitions, many of his students have earned high praise from judges for the scientific rigor and innovation of their projects, winning gold medals at school, provincial, and even national levels.

In biology competitions, Kevin’s students have repeatedly achieved outstanding results in the Canadian Biology Olympiad (CBO), earning national first, second, and third prizes. Several have also been selected for Canada’s national training team, representing the country at the International Biology Olympiad (IBO). Additionally, under his guidance, students have participated in the UK Biology Olympiad (UKBO), earning awards across gold, silver, and bronze levels.

In chemistry competitions, Kevin has coached students for the Canadian Chemistry Contest (CCC) and the Canadian Chemistry Olympiad (CCO). Many of his students have distinguished themselves nationally, winning first, second, and third prizes, as well as merit awards, consistently ranking in the top 5%–10% across Canada.

Comprehensive University Application and Consulting

Kevin also brings extensive experience and deep insight into North American university admissions planning. He assists students in systematically clarifying their application goals and developing well-structured plans. His comprehensive, personalized guidance spans school selection strategies, academic focus areas, enhancement of academic profiles, competition participation, extracurricular planning, as well as essay writing and interview preparation.

Over the years, many of Kevin’s students have gained admission to some of the world’s top universities. These achievements are not only a testament to the students’ capabilities but also a reflection of Kevin’s professional teaching methods and his long-term commitment to their success.
