Introduction to the Physics Bowl

The Physics Bowl is a competition for high school students and schools. Every March and April, students and schools compete by answering 40 multiple-choice questions on high school physics topics. The Physics Bowl has two divisions (Division 1 and Division 2). Division 1 is for first-year physics students (generally Physics 11 or AP Physics 1), and Division 2 is for second-year and above physics students (generally Physics 12 or AP Physics 2 and above). Based on past years, students need to answer at least 33 questions to receive an award in Division 1, and at least 31 questions to receive an award in Division 2.

Physics Bowl Exam Scope

The exams for Physics Bowl Sections 1 and 2 overlap significantly, covering all the content from high school Physics 11 and 12 and AP Physics 1 and 2. In addition, they also test general physics knowledge, the history of physics, and some college-level non-calculus physics concepts.
